I was born in the South to parents from the north. My mother was born and raised in Ohio and my father was born in West Virginia and lived all over with his parents and brother until settling in the South in the late 60s. To say that “southern food” was a mystery to me growing up is an understatement. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I truly started to appreciate the south for the flavors and textures that were available here. There are very few places in the country where you can get so many different kinds of vegetables so easily.

So this is a journey through food. Not just Southern food. It’s a journey through my grandparent’s food from the coal mining regions of West Virginia. It’s a journey through the Eastern European food from my mother’s family and its a journey through the food of my home in the South. We will cook recipes. We will have videos. We will start this journey and see where we end up.

It’s a food story told in the South. A Southern Food Story.
